A creamy minus-the-cream SMOOTHIE (for one!)

I’ve been on a smoothie-making kick!  Lately, I’ve dabbled with blending different fruits in raw and frozen form.  Freezing all the fruit (and adding ice cubes) makes this drink smooth and cold without adding sherbet, yogurt, or ice cream.  Frozen bananas, in particular, impart the creamy texture.

1/4 cup blueberries, frozen
4 strawberries, frozen
1 banana, frozen
few slices pear, frozen
3 ice cubes
3/4 cup orange juice

Method:  Blend and drink!

Diet Notes: Gluten-free, nut-free, SCD-safe, vegan

    Well you know I am the smoothie queen (at least if measured by sheer volume of smoothies made per year), and I agree OJ is great, but so is pineapple juice, yogurt, soy milk and rice milk as a base. So, keep experimenting and don’t worry about the combinations they usually turn out quite nice. My particular favorites are strawberry/raspberry and peach combinations, though there’s nothing wrong with papaya or mango mixed in.

    For economy, I buy the huge bags at Costco of frozen berries–rather than fresh and then freezing. Much cheaper and still quite delicious.
